Modern psychedelic rock band The Vorticists have just released their debut album, 'Show'.

"This is really an 'album-listeners' album, in the vein of Pink Floyd and Radiohead... but I'm wary of calling it a concept-album," says keyboard player and vocalist Alex Chod.

"To me, 'Show' is a strange, alluring journey through the emotions of self-realization. We're excited to give something new to our fans and to make new friends as we promote our album and take the live show on the road,"

After a year of writing, recording and experimentation the album is now available for digital download through their Bandcamp (see below). An independently produced work, the band is offering a 'pay what you want' pricetag on the three-song demo of the album (aptly titled 'Faux Show'), and a five dollar minimum on the complete, nine track album in high quality formats... Bargain!!

Sam Amidon - Live in Session on Sideways Through Sound

New York-based singer Sam Amidon has won massive acclaim for his ability to radically re-invent traditional songs. To augment his guitar, banjo and fiddle and deadpan vocals, Sam draws on a host of collaborators for his latest album, 'I See The Sign', including Nico Muhly for string, woodwind and brass arrangements and Beth Orton for backing harmonies... 

On the eve of his Sydney Festival appearance, Thee Sonic Assassin will be joined in the studio by Sam for a chat and a couple of tunes...
